The cold drawing production process consists of the gradual reduction of a rolled or extruded shape by means of one or more drawing “passes”, until reaching the size and tolerances required by the customer.
More specifically, an external force is applied which makes the bar or coil material pass through the shaped hole of the die, with the result of exactly reproducing the required section.

Receipt of
raw materials

Incoming material testing and automatic bar peeling, alongside high-quality steel, are key factors for reducing production waste and ensuring that special profiles of the highest quality are produced.

Hot rolling

The raw material is supplied in round steel bars or in coils. It is first hot-rolled, by passing it through a pair of rigid counter-rotating rollers at very high temperatures, to obtain the plastic forming of steel.

Heat treatment/annealing

Controlled heating is used to bring the material’s chemical and physical structure back to optimal conditions for the next forming operations.


Sandblasting is a mechanical process that eliminates any traces of oxide originating from previous processing cycles.

Descaling and Mechanical
or chemical pickling

Descaling and mechanical or chemical pickling may be necessary to bring the steel’s surface and mechanical features back to optimal values, thus optimizing the material for subsequent operations.


Phosphating is a chemical process that uses phosphate solutions to cover the steel surface with a protective crystalline layer, making the profiles highly resistant to corrosion.

Cold drawing

Once the profiles have been prepared, the most important manufacturing process is carried out: highly accurate, complex geometries provide the product with a final section having the size required by the customer.

Cutting to size

Based on the profile processing requirements, other heat, chemical or mechanical treatment or new cold drawing steps may follow; otherwise the profile cutting phase begins.

Final straightening

The finishing phase consists of straightening the profiles, allowing customers’ strictest straightening requirements to be met.

Packaging and

Finished material is provided in bars or coils depending on the customer’s requests or on the shape of the product. It may be shipped by land, sea or air.
